The China Building Materials Federation stands as the nation’s sole comprehensive, authoritative, and national-level trade organization within the building materials sector, playing a pivotal and leading role in advancing the development of green building materials. Functioning as an “association of associations,” it oversees 23 national-level industrial associations within the building materials sector and maintains ties with industry associations across 26 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, thereby establishing a nationwide service network for the industry.
In the realm of green building materials, the Federation actively implements national policies—such as the *Action Plan for Promoting the Production and Application of Green Building Materials* issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology—to drive the transformation and upgrading of the building materials industry. The Federation spearheaded the formulation of a comprehensive evaluation standard system for green building materials, explicitly defining the five essential characteristics that such materials must possess: “energy efficiency, emission reduction, safety, convenience, and recyclability.” For metal composite decorative materials—such as aluminum honeycomb panels and single aluminum panels—the Federation has championed the establishment of green evaluation standards covering the entire product lifecycle, ranging from raw material selection and manufacturing processes to final product performance; this initiative provides clear technical guidance for the industry’s green transition. Furthermore, in recent years, the Federation has actively organized enterprises to participate in campaigns promoting the use of green building materials in rural areas, thereby expanding both the scope and volume of green material applications and contributing significantly to the realization of the nation’s “Dual Carbon” goals.
