This initiative serves as a prime example of how a local industry association can drive the formulation of standards for green building materials. In April 2025, the association convened a meeting to launch the drafting of a group standard for “Glue-free Aluminum Honeycomb Panels” (specifically, those utilizing a cast-film process). This meeting brought together nearly 20 enterprises, alongside standards experts and legal professionals.
Thanks to advantages such as its cast-film manufacturing process, eco-friendliness, and durability, the glue-free aluminum honeycomb panel has found widespread application in various sectors, including all-aluminum cabinetry, interior wall paneling, integrated ceiling systems, and interior doors. However, the absence of a unified standard has not only hindered the healthy development of the industry but has also created confusion for consumers making purchasing decisions. The drafting meeting featured in-depth discussions covering key aspects such as material composition (aluminum skins, cast films, aluminum foil, etc.), the cast-film manufacturing process, physical performance characteristics, and limits on hazardous substances. These discussions were designed to ensure the scientific validity and practical applicability of the standard in both home decoration and commercial engineering projects. The formulation of this standard marks a significant milestone—representing a concerted effort by multiple stakeholders to advance the construction of a standardized industry framework—and provides a precise reference guide for the application of glue-free honeycomb panels in home and commercial projects, as well as for consumers making informed purchasing choices.
