Confused between aluminum honeycomb and ACM panels? We break down the differences in core, strength, application, and cost to help you make the right decision for your project.
While both are aluminum-faced panels, the core material defines their differences.
Aluminum Honeycomb Panel: Features a true honeycomb core made of aluminum foil. This makes it stronger, stiffer, and more flat over large areas. It has a higher fire resistance rating (often A2) as the core is non-combustible. It is generally used for higher-end architectural, interior, and transport applications where performance is critical.
Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP/ACM): Has a core made of polyethylene (PE) or a mineral-filled core. It is less rigid and can be more prone to warping on large spans. PE cores are combustible, though fire-retardant (FR) options exist. ACP is a cost-effective solution for signage, interior work, and shorter-span facades.
Choose Honeycomb for: Maximum flatness, superior strength, best fire rating, and heavy-duty applications.
Choose ACM for: Budget-conscious projects, smaller spans, and standard signage.
